It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Winston Carl Gillett announce his passing on March 13th 2024 at the Western Long-Term Care, Palliative Care Unit, after a short illness.

Winse leaves to mourn the love of his life of over 60 years, Marion. Children; Raymond (Lorraine) Calgary, Barb (Keith Simmonds) Corner Brook, David (TerryLynn) Summerside, daughter-in-law Lori of Nova Scotia. Grandchildren; Ryan, Kelsey, Jared, Courtney, Katelyn, Devan, Cody, Mackenzie and Meghan. Great Grandchildren; Theodore and Mataeo. Sisters; Carol and Ester, as well as a large number of family members.

Winse is predeceased by his son Robert (2023) and Grandson Zachary.  As well as his parents; Chesley and Ileen, sister; Winnie, brothers; Calvin, Lloyd and Ivan.

For those who knew him well, he leaves the memories of a strong man who loved to hunt and fish, spend time at his cabin, and with his family.  He had this infectious smile that made you feel good just seeing him.

We would like to thank Dr. Chris Whitten and his staff, the doctors and nurses and palliative care team, and community health. And everyone in the health care system who did an amazing job taking care of him.

There are no words to describe the heartbreak we all feel, but he left us with memories that we will never forget.  He was a man that left a positive impact on everyone who knew him.

At his request cremation has taken place, there will be a visitation held at Country Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday March 19th 2024 at 2-4pm followed by the funeral service at 4pm at the Country Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jocelyn Cook officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Winse's memory can be made to a charity of one's choice.
