It is with great sadness that the family of the late William James Brake announce his passing on Thursday, March 23 rd , 2023 at the Western Long Term Palliative Care Unit in his 76 th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 44 years: Patsy (nee. Buckle); children: Sean, Kim, and Kellie; grandchildren: Sumaya, Jasmine, and Grayson; his brother and sisters: Gladys Hann (Gary), Julie Eaton (Fraser), and Brian Brake (Carolann); and his Buckle family: Elaine (Robert), Marie, Jo Ann, Nancy, Donald (Donna), Mary Ann (Royal), Kelly (Gloria), Casey, Connie, and Robin (Gloria); as well as a large circle of other relatives, and many friends.

Bill is predeceased by his parents: William and Rachel Brake; parents-in-law: Don and Mary Buckle; his sisters: Marion Roul (Ken), and Joan Gintautas; and brother-in-law: David Vardy.

Bill was born in Marystown and at age 6, the family moved to Curling. Bill went to school there and when of age became an altar boy at Sacred Heart. Later at Regina High, he became a proud member of the Regina Boys Choir. After High School he moved to Toronto and worked at Canadian Tire. On a visit home, he rekindled his love for Patsy and together, with Sean and Kim, they returned to Toronto. Kellie was born there and in 1979 they all returned to Curling Newfoundland. Bill worked at various jobs, the latter being a baker at Dominion Store, where he was known to his customers as the happy guy in the bakery (also known as Billy Bob to his co-workers). After retirement from there, he devoted more time again to the Sunday Masses with Tony and the Griffin family at Sacred Heart. He was well known for his beautiful singing voice and it was deeply appreciated. He is loved and will be missed by many.

There will be a visitation held on Friday, March 24 th , 2023 at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. There will be no funeral service at this time. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, no flowers by request, instead a donation can be made to his attending church. Donations can be made via email money transfer.
