It is with heavy hearts that the Taylor family announce the passing of William “Bill” James Taylor, who passed away peacefully at Western Memorial Hospital in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, on May 13, 2026, at the age of 71. William was a beloved father, grandfather, sibling, uncle and loyal friend. He was predeceased by his parent’s mother Mona Taylor and father Jim Taylor, son Adam Taylor, nephew Matthew Gabriel, and partner Karen Tulk.
Bill was born on May 7th, 1955 in Woody Point, NL, and although he relocated to Corner Brook; he spent many summers as a boy in Woody Point with his grandmother: Beatrice Taylor, whom he shared a special bond. After attending Herdman Collegiate High School, he moved to St. John’s, and then to several places in Ontario where he had a bright career with NCR Canada as an engineer, as well as in management roles. In the year 2000 he moved home to Newfoundland to be closer with family and ran serval business until he retired. After he retired, he then settled in Corner Brook again to be close to his family and friends.
Bill had an incredible passion for any outdoor activities. He would spend countless hours fishing, snowmobiling, and boating; anything that would get him outdoors. He was a joke teller and always had a joke for any situation. Bill also loved cooking, and getting together with friends and family for large meals. He loved feeding his family and friends. Bill lived a full life and was loved by many. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Bill will be lovingly remembered by his Son Chris Martin and his wife Laura. Son Brad Taylor, and his wife Carla and grandsons Evan and Gavin. Son Barry Taylor and his wife Morgan and Granddaughters Presley, Sonny and Stevie. Sister Pauline Gabriel, her husband and Brother-in-law Ken, Nephew David and his wife Jennifer and their children Taylor and Sarah. Brayden great nephew (nephew Matthew’s son). Sister Debbie White, her husband and brother-in-law Bruce, niece Megan and Partner Jennifer and their sons Aaron and Jayden. Sister Maureen Doody, and her husband and Brother-in-Law Dave, nephew Scott his wife Renee and their Children Brooke, Kate and Dawson, as well as Nephew Ryan and his wife Jasmine. Brother Jim Taylor, his wife and sister-in-law Michelle and nephew and niece Andrew and Jessica. Brother Steve Taylor, his wife and sister-in-law Connie and nephew and niece James and Laura. Also, Arlene, mother of his sons of Brad, Barry and Adam.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Western Memorial Hospital with the palliative care unit where Bill Stayed during his final weeks of life for their kindness, care, and compassion. As well as all the staff at Country Haven funeral Home for all the care and compassion they have shown during this difficult time.
In following Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Services to be announced at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Bill’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
