Obituary

The family of the late Wayne Butler would like to express thanks to the many people who supported us during this very sad time.

The messages, cards, meals, flowers, and monetary gifts were very much appreciated. Thank you to those who donated to a charity in Wayne's memory. A special thank you to all the family that travelled across Canada and NL to be here. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came to the visitation. Wayne would have loved to know he had such a great turn out and would have chatted with each and every one of you.

Again, a sincere thank you to the outstanding staff of Nature's Haven-Western Long Term Care for their loving care of Wayne, they were truly a gift to us.

Finally, thank you to Dwayne and his staff at Country Haven Funeral Home for making the arrangements seamless.

-Gail, Aaron, Saul, and Dave.

Wayne Frederick Butler, 67, spouse and best friend of 44 years to Gail Butler (nee. Hewlett), passed away on March 6, 2025.

Wayne was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia many years ago. Wayne lived years beyond the estimated life expectancy for patients afflicted with this disease.

Wayne will be remembered as a man of good humour. He would talk to anyone that would listen, especially when the topic was sports… of any type. Wayne enjoyed playing tennis, table tennis, softball, and was a soccer player with his Humber Hawks many years ago. He was kind, and of generous spirit, and would often win "Most Sportsman-like Player" in tournaments. He was an encouraging and patient coach to everyone that wanted to learn. Wayne loved his life and family, and laughed easily. He was truly a good man.

Wayne is survived by his children: Aaron, Saul, and Dave; grandchildren: Eleanor, Hannah, Aidan, Ceilidh, and Caitlyn; brothers and sisters-in-law: Rowena Morash (Harold), Brian Hewlett (Sharon), Dawn Hewlett, and Craig Hewlett (Linda); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many, many friends.

Wayne was predeceased by his parents: Chesley and Elizabeth Butler (nee. Keel); and his brothers: Bryce (Gladys), and Chesley (Doris).

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the 3rd floor-Natures Haven at the Western Long-Term Care who treated Wayne like family, and gave him such good care during the time he spent there.

There will be a visitation held for family and friends on Monday, March 10th, 2025 at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 7-9 PM. There will be no formal funeral service at this time. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Wayne's memory to a charity of one's choice.
