Wanda McCarthy

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wanda McCarthy (nee. Carter) announce her untimely passing at the Health Science Center, St. John’s, on Sunday, September 20th, 2026 at the age of 63 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her devoted husband of 30 years: John McCarthy; their beloved daughter: Holly McCarthy; sisters: Louise, Jesse (Joe), and Dianne (Hubert); nieces: Paula, Jennifer, and Andrea; and great nieces: Alexandria, and Alexia; as well as her extended relatives, and many friends, especially her close friends: Gladys Dicks, and Debbie McCarthy. 

Wanda was predeceased by her parents: Alex and Pheobe Carter; mother and father-in-law: Ignatius “Nick” and Gertrude “Gertie” McCarthy; sister: Brenda; brother: Caleb; and brother-in-law: Donald Stowe. 

In following Wanda’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal visitation or funeral service at this time. A celebration of Wanda’s life will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Wanda’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
