October 13, 1935 – March 30, 2022
Passed peacefully away at Western Memorial Regional Hopsital at the age of 86 years, on Wednesday, March 30th, 2022. Leaving to mourn, Margaret, his loving and devoted wife of 59 years; the lights of his life, grandsons: Jordan (Holly), Nathan and Christian (Samantha); treasured, precious great-grandchildren: Jack and Lucy Hamlyn; daughter-in-law: Trinda Hamlyn; sister-in-law: Hazel Hamlyn; brothers-in-law: Lewis Trickett and Ewart (Dianne) Locke; special neighbours and family friends: Gary, Pauline, Angie and Adam Park; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and coworkers. Walter was predeceased by his loving sons: Brian and Danny; father and mother: Cyrus and Emily Hamlyn (Rumbolt); mother and father-in-law: Fred and Laura Locke; sister-in-law: Marion Trickett; brother and sister-in-law: Roy and Kay Locke; also, thirteen brothers, sisters and their spouses. Walter worked with CNT, Newtel and Aliant for 43 years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He was very active in his church. In his thirties, with lay reading, choir member, men's club, Sunday school teacher and scout leader over the years. Also, a member of United Commericial Travellers for many years. His quiet demeanour and a friend to all was his way of life. He played several musical instruments and enjoyed dancing with Margaret every chance they had. He loved camping and travelling in their motor home, for 22 summers. He enjoyed a nice campfire and sing song with friends. In Walter's memory, donations may be made to the Oakland United Church, or a charity of one's choice. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home on Friday, April 1st, 2022 from the hours of 7-9PM. Funeral service to take place at Oakland United Church on Saturday, April 2nd, 2022 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Paulette Bugden officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery.
