Thelma Marie
Sheppard
January 12, 1942 – December 4, 2025
It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Thelma Marie Sheppard on Thursday, December the 4th, 2025, at the Corner Brook Community Health Center, at the age of 83 years. Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. A loved member of her community and church. As a long-standing member of the ACW, Thelma was very committed to her church fellowship and the communities of Lark Harbour and York Harbour. Thelma enjoyed volunteering her time and baking to support all church activities. In her spare time, Thelma enjoyed knitting, sewing, and crochet. Thelma had many talents. Most importantly she was a loving and caring motherly figure.
Thelma leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her daughters: Hannah (Alvin) and Elizabeth (Gary); grandchildren: Nicole, Lance (Kayla), and Joshua; great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Nathan, Chloe, Zayden, Maxton, Lennon, and Halston; sisters: Alice, Elizabeth, Elsie, Rhodena (Max), Gertrude (Hector), and Jane (Calvin); brothers: Norman, Clarence (Joan), Thomas (Sharon), John (Lisa), Howard (Sheila), Terry (Tracy), Max (Marjorie), and Nelson (Donna); and brother-in-law: Lawrence Sheppard; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Thelma was predeceased by her husband: Wilson Sheppard; grandson: Noah Sheppard; parents: Thomas and Melina Childs; sister: Jean Sheppard; parents-in-law: George and Alice Sheppard; brothers and sisters-in-law: Lottie Childs, Ralph Lovell, Calvin Gilbert, Terrance Roberts, Judy Childs, Melvin Sheppard, Cecil Sheppard, and Irene Mercer (Reginald).
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at the Bay of Islands House, Corner Brook Community Health Center. Many thanks to Reverend Effie Organ for her compassionate support, prayers, and many visits. Special thank you to her personal care workers Victoria, Emily, and Natasha for their support and care during this time.
Friends and family may visit St. James Anglican Church on Tuesday, December 9th, from 2:00–4:00 pm and 7:00–9:00 pm. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 10th, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the same location, officiated by Reverend Effie Organ, with interment following at the church cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted. Memorial donations may be made to St. James Anglican Church. Donations may also be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
