Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Stephen George White on August 31st, 2025 at the age of 77 years, following a short battle with cancer.

He leaves to mourn, his wife: Jean White; his sons: Aaron (Emily), and Shawn (Susan); daughters: Jacinda, and Irene (Daniel); step-daughters: Suzanne (Jacques), and Crystal (Robert); brother: George (Ruth); sisters: Elaine (Bert), and Betty (Ken); brother-in-law: Pat; grandchildren: Curtis, Danielle, Bridgette, Madison, Nicholas, and Brady; and nieces and nephews: Matthew, Patrick, Heather, Scott, Jeremy, and Stephen.

He was predeceased by his father: Merrill; mother: Irene; sister: Gloria; and his beloved: Eileen.

Steve was well known for his musical ability and his never-ending pursuit to achieve musical perfection. Throughout his life he had many joys such as snowmobiling in the woods to find the perfect spot to cut firewood, occasionally winning a game of cards with his wife Jean, in depth discussions with brother George about the meaning of life, and keeping every gift, he has ever received. He cherished family sing-alongs with brother George and sister Elaine, and his nephews Jeremy and Stephen and any other family members who could join in. He openly shared his green Fender Stratocaster with his son Aaron and taught him as well as his daughter Jacinda the basics on guitar and accordion, as well as his grandson Curtis. Steve relished in the fact, with his son Aaron, that he "still got it" in the gym. Even though he tried not to make a big deal about it, he would often debate with his daughter Jacinda about the chances of the Maple Leaf's winning a game for once. His wife Jean finally convinced him cards were ok, and he took that idea and ran – it was his favourite pass-time. It wasn't often he would win, so when he did, we heard all about it. His grandson, Curtis, who was by his side for his last days, will never forget the ski-doo rides and teachings he passed onto him about life.

Steve had a strong faith in the Bible, and it's promises. He believed in a future where life on earth comes with no sickness, pain, or death – Revelations 21:3-4 – It is with faith that he had the strength to carry on through life's adversities. His humility and desire to seek peace on all occasions will be missed, and continues to be an outstanding example for all those he leaves behind.

The family would like to thank the medical professionals of the Western Long-Term Palliative Care Unit for providing comfort and support during this difficult time.

There will be a funeral service taking place at 2 PM on Saturday, September 6th, 2025 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Corner Brook, NL.
