It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stephen Nathaniel Hackett announce his peaceful passing surrounded by his loved ones at the Health Sciences Center, in St. John's , NL, on January 4 th , 2023 in his 68 th year. Steve will be dearly missed by his sister: Christine Wheeler; nieces and nephews: Hilda Hackett (Calvin), Bernadette Temple (Jerry), Douglas LeRoy (Paulette), Judy Allen (Richard-deceased), Patrick LeRoy (Lillian-deceased), Martha Hackett (Bill), Wallace LeRoy (Donna), Margie Elms (Greg), Janetta Stewart (Darren), Darlene LeRoy (Jason), and Michelle LeRoy. Steve will be greatly missed by his special nephew, buddy, and right-hand man: Brendan Wheeler and his wife, Linda, whom he shared lots of laughs and jokes. Steve, you got Linda good that last time! Steve also leaves behind many great-nieces and nephews, along with a large circle of friends and extended family who thought the world over him; especially: Kevin Bourgeois, Bern Pennell, and Raymond Pike.

Steve is predeceased by his parents: John and Marguerita; sister: Eileen LeRoy; infant sister: Hilda; brothers-in-law: Hughie LeRoy, and Harold Wheeler; and his nephews: Michael LeRoy, and Terrance Wheeler.

Steve had a passion for wood work and built many model boats with incredible detail. He enjoyed being outdoors – on his skidoo, in boat, in the woods, and spent many hours tinkering with motors. If you needed a job done, Steve was always there to help. He spent many summers mowing lawns for people in his community, as well as other odd jobs. Steve was well loved for his quick wit and wicked sense of humour.
