It is with great sadness the family of the late Shirley Marie Gillingham (nee Prosper) announce her peaceful passing on December 6th 2024 at Corner Brook Western Long Term Care Home, in her 84th year. She is finally reunited with the love of her life Melvin, her husband of 66 years.

She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughters; Debbie LeDrew (Bob), Kimberly Jones (George), Tammy Barry (Rick), Karen Gillingham (Matthew). Her grandchildren; Rich, Scott, Richard, Joshua, and Wyatt. Her great-grandchildren; Olivia, Alexa, Conrad, Sarah, Nathan, and Violet. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Shirley is predeceased by her parents Hayward and Alice Prosper. Her brothers and sisters; Charles, Henry, William, Harold, Mary, Gertrude, Margaret, and Mildred. Also, special niece Audrey.

Shirley loved the outdoors, fishing, camping and spending time with Melvin at their cabin. Throughout the years Shirley played darts, loved dancing and loved socializing and she wouldn't turn down a good feed of lobster.  Another of her greatest loves was spending time with her grandchildren.

The family would like to express thanks and appreciation to the staff of the 3rd floor, Nature's Haven unit for the wonderful care provided to there mother and support shown to family over the last 4 years.

There will be a visitation held at Country Haven Funeral Home on Sunday December 8th 2024 from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Anglian Cathedral at 2PM on Monday December 9th 2024 with Rev. Dean Catherine Short officiating. Cremation to follow, private family interment on Wednesday December 11th 2024 at the Townsite Anglican Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted, or a donation can be made in Shirley's memory to The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Main Street, Corner Brook, NL.
