Sean Shamus
Whelan
July 13, 1963 – December 12, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Sean Shamus Whelan announce his passing at the age of fifty-seven years at one of the places that he truly loved, his private residence on Pinchgut Lake. Originally from Corner Brook, Sean considered Pinchgut Lake to be his home.
He was predeceased by his parents William (Bill) and Theresa Caroline (Carrie) Whelan, grandparents William and Martina Whelan and Headley and Mary Josephine Marks, and sister-in-law Bernadette. He leaves to mourn his partner Neeta Bhakti of Toronto, brothers Michael (Blanche), Patrick (Gladys), Brian, Daniel (Bonnie), Philip (Karen), Basil (Karen), Bill (Jeannie), his sister Mary (Lee) and a very large circle of extended family and friends.
Sean was extremely close to all of the members of his family. His many nieces and nephews had a special place in his heart. Regardless of where he was or what he was doing, he always took the time to contact each of them on a regular basis. He treasured every moment that he spent with them. They dearly loved their Uncle Sean.
Sean will always be remembered for his love of life, his work ethic, his compassion, his smile and his love of the outdoors. He made many friends over the years and was loved by all.
A private family viewing and service will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home. At Sean's request, cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations (in lieu of flowers) can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
The family would like to extend a huge thank you to all who made contact with us over Sean's passing. Your kind words, messages, thoughts, prayers and cards will go a long way in helping our hearts to heal.
