Obituary

It is with great sadness and gratitude for a life well-lived that the family of the late Roy Myles announce his passing on Friday, May 9, 2025 at the age of 85 years.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his devoted wife of 43 years: Ruby; their beloved children: Deborah (Theodore), Lemoine, and Scott (Tina) Roche; and the absolute joys of his life, his grandchildren: Danielle, Ryan (Amanda), Matthew, and Geoff, who are so lucky to be loved by him. Also left to mourn are his brothers: Bob (Mona), and Steve Myles; brothers and sisters-in-law: Princelean (Ken), Lloyd, Alonzo (Margie), and Roy (Alice); special friends: Dougal and Dorothy Pye, The Penney's, and Calvin and Violet Toope; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many, many friends.

Roy was predeceased by his parents: Edwin and Sarah Myles; mother and father-in-law: Lloyd and Elizabeth Gardner; sister-in-law: Willette Myles; and brother-in-law: Chesley Gardner.

Roy was a devoted family man and a respected business man, known to many through his lifelong dedication to Myles' Groceteria. Even in retirement, he remained active in the business, working right up until his final days. He loved his summers camping at Sandy Lake, where he found true happiness and formed many lasting friendships. Roy also enjoyed doing crosswords, reading his favourite John Grisham novels, and watching sports. All of these activities he did surrounded by the many people who loved him.

He will be remembered forever for the kind and loving person he was, and for the unwavering love he gave to his family and friends.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Peter Callahan for his many years of dedicated care, and to Dr. Kristy Thompkins and Dr. Amanda Park, his cancer doctors, for the exceptional support, expertise, and compassion they provided over the past few months. Sincere gratitude is also extended to the paramedics and all other healthcare professionals who assisted Roy with care and dignity.

There will be a visitation taking place on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, from where the funeral service will take place at 2 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at the Oakland United Church with Rev. Ed King officiating. Interment to follow at the Mount Patricia Columbarium Park. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Roy's memory to the Oakland United Church fund.
