It is with great sadness that the family of the late Robert (Bob) George Scott, announce his passing at the Green Garden Unit (2nd Floor) of the old Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on Monday, May 11th, 2026 at the age of 91 years old.
Born on February 26th, 1935 in Corner Brook where he grew up and met the love of his life, Norma White, with whom he eventually married and started a family. Bob graduated as an Electrical Engineer from the University of New Brunswick and worked in several industries both on and off the island before returning to Corner Brook where he worked at Bowaters / Kruger as Chief Engineer until his retirement 1995. He served as the President of Association of Professional Engineers Newfoundland and Labrador (presently known as PEGNL) and also played a vital role in the development of the Corner Brook Stream Trail Network. Bob was an outdoorsman his whole life and was an avid hiker, cross-country skier, snowmobiler, fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed his daily walks around the Townsite area of Corner Brook as well as travelling around the island. He also loved spending as much time as possible at his cabin in George’s Lake which he built from the ground up with the help of his wife, family and friends. Whether it was an early morning canoe ride, an afternoon swim, an evening spent on the patio sipping a drink while watching the sun set or tinkering in his shed (if he could find the keys!) the cabin was his happy place; one where his memory will be imprinted on forever. A family man through and through, Bob loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; always up for a dance, singing a song and playing the piano he loved having all kinds of fun. He also had a close circle of friends from his childhood, throughout his working life and into his later years. In recent years he regaled us with stories from his youth - ones that not even Norma knew of - about flying planes, driving 18-wheelers and getting into all kinds of trouble with his best buddies.
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories Sons: Brian Scott (Debbi), Craig Scott (Lori); Daughters: Sharon Scott (Brent), Tracey Baker (Douglas); Grandchildren: Steve (Charlene), Tyler (Tanya), Kristen (Stephen), Leanne (Ian), Meaghan (Yanick), Ally (Kyle), Amy (Charlie) and Emily; Great Grandchildren: Peyton, Addison, Graeme and Eli; Brother In-law: Merril (Mary). Robert was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Norma Rose (White) Scott, son Todd Christopher Scott, as well as his Father: Albert Scott; Mother: Sarah (Atwood); Brothers: Kitchener (Muriel), Edgar; Sisters: Jean Roe (James), Joan Holmes (Bobbie), Annie. Father In-law: Chesley White; Mother In-law: Blanche (Stepfather Jack McKay); Sisters In-law: Suzanne Martin (Edward), Elizabeth King (Milton) Gladys Batten (Bruce); Brother In-law: Melvin (Georgie).
Cremation has taken place. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Friday, May 22nd, 2026 from the hours of 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm.
