Obituary

It is with great sadness the family of the late Robert "Bob" Short announce his passing in the wee hours of the morning on April 26th 2025, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook, at the age of 88 years.

Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his daughters: Kim and Trixie (Brian), grandchildren: Michael (Michelle), Chad (Susan), Adam (Stacey). Great grandchildren: Ella, Evelyn, Olivia, Audrey, Cecilia and Jack. Special friend: Mary Giles. Step mother-in-law: Rachel McKay. Step sisters-in-law: Valerie Cassell and Rhoda Howe, along with many nieces and nephews.

Dad is predeceased by his wife, Mary (nee. Gillam). Parents: Marjorie (Miller) and Charles. Brothers: Clayton, Lindsay, Earl, and John Charles. Sisters: Laura Jean Douglas, Vyella Parsons, Madeline Gordon, Gertie LeRiche, Geraldine White, Barbara Osmond, and Marjorie MacDonald. Sisters in law: Gladys (Waxy), Una (Rodney); Step brother-in-law:   Spencer

Dad was a very proud but private man. He enjoyed darts at the church hall, a game of cards, and especially planting a garden.  Even after he sold his cabin, he found a patch of ground for his onions and potatoes.  He also learned to play guitar! Dad loved telling stories from his past. After his surgery, he sat up in bed telling us about the Clydesdales his father had for hauling wood. They would have Christmas bells attached to the horses for their sleigh rides when they were children. Dad enjoyed his last few hours watching the "good 'ol hockey game" and unknown to us that he would pass away at 1:05AM.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Peter Blackwood and all the doctors and nursing staff of the 4D unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital for their care and compassion shown during his stay.

A Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home on Thursday May 1st, 2025 from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9PM. The funeral service will be at 2 PM on Friday May 2nd 2025 from St. Michael and all Angels Anglican Church on Park Drive, Corner Brook with Rev. Mickton officiating.
