It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rita Mary Offrey announce her passing on Monday, November 24, 2025 at the Rufus Guinchard Health Care Center, Port Saunders, NL, at the age of 91 years, surrounded by her sons Dean and Peter, and daughter-in-law, Betty. Rita was known for her sewing, knitting, and her big, generous heart.

She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her sons: Joe (Pearl), Jim (Authorine), Dean (Betty), and Peter; daughters: Sue (Rick), Janet (Hank), and Cennith (Kevin); son-in-law: Monty; brother: Joe Scanlon (Fran); sister-in-law: Effie; her many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many, many friends.

Rita is predeceased by her husband: Peter Offrey; parents: Joseph and Mary-Ann Scanlon; brothers: Jerry, and John; sisters: Honora (John), Susan (Robert), and Florence (Dick); sister-in-law: Marion; grandsons: David Myres, and Joshua Offrey; special granddaughter: Janesta; and son-in-law: Clifford.

In following Rita's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal visitation or funeral service at this time. An interment will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Rita's memory to the Roman Catholic Church in Port aux Choix.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mountainview House and Rufus Guinchard Long Term Care for their compassion and support shown to our dear mother.
