It is with great sadness that the family of the late Phyllis Marie Vincent announce her passing on Sunday, October 25th, 2026 at the Western Long-Term Care at the age of 96 years old.
Phyllis was born and raised on Pilley’s Island. As a young adult she worked at the local post office as the Postmistress, which she thoroughly enjoyed. It was at this time she met Gordon Vincent from Triton. They later married on December 3, 1952 and moved to Triton on Vincent’s Point to begin their future together. Subsequently, in 1954 they relocated to Corner Brook, where they built a family home and raised three children.
Phyllis enjoyed many things in her life, such as: knitting, sewing, baking, music, reading, being an Avon representative in her later years, cabin-life, and the usage of computers and social media. Her greatest pleasure was centered around her family.
Phyllis is survived by her children: Olga (Harvey), Jocelyn (Paul), and Tracy (Linda); her grandchildren: Vicki (Craig), Christopher (Charlene), Philip (Katelyn), Sarah (Paul), Patrick (Karin), Jaren, and Justin (Maddie); great-grandchildren: Jacob, Leigha, Beth, Mathew, Levi, Garrett, Thomas, William, Dottie, Mae, Frankie, Phoebe, and Dayna; siblings: Frances, Cluney (Fern), Donna (John), and Inez; and sisters-in-law: Daphne, and Shirley; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Phyllis was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband: Gordon; parents: Idella and James Vincent; parents-in-law: Janet and Norman Vincent; brother: Ricky; sister: Margaret (John, Art); and brothers-in-law: David, Peter, Ronald (Elsie), Bramwell (Alma), Otto (Celia), and Harvey.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Western Long-Term Care-Balsam View for their compassion, empathy, and respect given to Phyllis. We will never forget her guardian angels.
There will be a visitation taking place for family and friends at Country Haven Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 28th, 2026 from the hours of 7-9 PM. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 29th, 2026 at 11 AM in the Country Haven Chapel with Majors John and Donna Goulding officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Phyllis’ memory to a charity of one’s choice.
