Phyllis was predeceased by her parents Chesley & Margaret Bishop; her Brother Harry Bishop; her sisters Louise Kean and brother in Law: Tom Thompson. Remembering Phyllis ……Anyone who knew Phyllis Gear remembers her as a kind, gentle person with a love of life, a strong moral compass, and a great sense of humour. She loved simple, beautiful things and was most content in the presence of good company over tea with lots of milk, or walking along the beach, enjoying the salt air, rocks, and wind-swept trees across the island. She was an avid Scrabble player and played thousands of games over the years with her family and friends. It was often said that she would play the letters off the tiles one day. Phyllis spent many years in TOPS, often working on banner campaigns and winning competitions for her division at regional conventions. The women she met at TOPS became life-long friends whose companionship and support spanned decades. She loved hummingbirds, butterflies, wild roses, and all types of flowers she could grow in her small back yard or summer flower boxes. She always doodled in the margins of her paper and later in life, found a passion for colouring books, applying her intuitive skills of colour harmonies to bring her pictures to life. Christmas was her favourite time of year and she loved to decorate her home with garland, glass bulbs, hand-crafted ornaments, and multi-coloured lights. She often highlighted her collections of angel figurines, snowmen, and snow globes as classical choral Christmas music played in the background. She will be dearly missed by her husband, family, and all who knew her. A private visitation and funeral service will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home on Wed. Dec 23, 2020, with Major Frank Johnson officiating.  Interment to take place at a later date.  As expressions of sympathy, no flowers by request, donations can be made in memory of Phyllis to Canadian Diabetes Assoc. or to a charity of one's choice.
