It is with great sadness that the family of the late Peter Edward Lee of Corner Brook, passed away on April 23rd, 2026 at the Western Long-Term Palliative Care at the age of 86 years. Peter served with the Canadian Armed Forces for 30 years. Upon retirement he returned to his hometown of Corner Brook. Peter enjoyed working with his hands; he was Jack of all trades, from building his own home with his brothers to sewing our dresses for our family reunion in 1975. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked. As his name means “Rock”, he was that for his family. In the words of my father, “Don’t grieve for me when I am gone celebrate the life I had”.
Peter is survived by his wife: Mary (nee. Lush) along with his children: Debbie (Cliff), Paul (Jocelyn) and Suzanne (Mark); grandchildren: Gregory Wardle, Rebecca Wardle, Braydon Lee, Mackenzie Lee, Colby Lee, and Hailey Lee-Miller. He is also survived by his brothers: Gerard (Loretta), John (Elizabeth), Rome, and Patrick; sisters: Imelda Lee, Veronica Price, Suzanne Culhane (Bill), Bernadette Hughes (Robert), Madonna Simmons (Carl), and Marie Wyatt (Karl); sisters-in-law: Linda Lee, Bernice Oram, Molly Oram (Stephen), and Elizabeth Harding (Gerald); brother-in-law: Frazer Lush; and his dear aunt Yvonne Ploughman, and special friend of Mary and Peter’s: Ruth Bugde; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and many friends.
Peter was predeceased by his father: Thomas Lee; and mother Gertrude Lee (nee. Gould); his sisters: Elaine Lee, Deborah Lee, Elizabeth Arnold (Joseph), and Geraldine Field (David); brothers Kevin (Angie), Dermot (Collette), Ronald, Thomas, and Leonard (Betty); brothers-in-law: Fred Price, and Claude Oram; sisters-in-law: Florence Lee, Theresa Lee, and Josephine Lush; her nephew: Jeffrey Simmons; and great-nephew: Zachery Park; parents-in-law: Walter and Florence Lush (nee. Tucker).
In following Peter’s wishes, there will be a private viewing for family at Country Haven Funeral Home. Cremation to follow. Interment service to take place at Mount Patricia Cemetery at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Peter’s memory to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of WMRH-5C Stroke unit, and the WLTC-Palliative Care Unit.
