Peter Joseph
Barry
Nov 29, 1959 — Aug 28, 2026
Corner Brook
It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Peter Barry announce his peaceful passing on Friday, August 28th in the Palliative Care Unit of Western Long Term Care Home, at the age of 66 years. Peter leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his two pride and joys, his sons; Adam and Chris, daughter-in-law; Nicole. Sisters; Laura (Dave), Regina (Stirling), and Marie (John). Brothers; Gord (Lana), Bob (Janice), and Steven (Terrilynn). Special friend; Joanne (Darryl), as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews who he was so very proud of. Peter kept his circle small, but at the center of his circle were his five grandchildren; Ethan, Alex, Noah, Isabel, and Andi, as well as his two honorary grandchildren who loved their "Poppy Peter"; Lincoln and Oliver.
Peter was born and raised in Corner Brook, NL to the late Mae and John Barry. He lived a simple life, with simple pleasures, such as cheering on the Buffalo Sabres, devouring a plate of home fries, and above all, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Peter always enjoyed a road trip, loved his takeout, and he would never say no to a game of crib. He cheered on the Corner Brook Royal's wholeheartedly, and was so proud to call the West Coast home. He will be missed by all who knew him, as he was the most kind, caring man that we knew. His legacy will live on through us, his children and grandchildren. See you again some day, Poppy.
Thank you to the doctors, nursing staff, and all who were involved in Peter's care during his diagnosis and end of life. Thank you to everyone who visited, checked in, and supported Peter in any way throughout his Cancer journey, it was very much appreciated by Peter and his family.
In following Peter's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a public visitation at Country Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday September 1st 2026 from the hours of 7-9PM. There will be no formal funeral service at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
