The family of the late Olive Sarah Payne would like to express thanks to the many people who supported us during this very sad and difficult time. Thanks for all the messages, cards, food, flowers, monetary gifts and donations to Epilepsy, NL. in mom's memory. A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who came to the visitation and attended the funeral. Mom would have loved to know she had such a great turnout and would have chatted with each and everyone of you. A sincere thank-you to the outstanding staff of Bayside, Western Long Term Care who gave mom so much love every day, they were truly a gift. Finally, to Dwayne and the staff at Country Haven Funeral Home for making the arrangements seemless.

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Olive Sarah Payne at Western Long Term Care in Corner Brook on Sunday April 6, 2025. Olive was born in Corner Brook on January 28, 1936. She is predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Thomas. She leaves to mourn her 5 children: Maureen (Paul), Carolyn/Cog (Doug), Joanne (Fabe), Janice and Tom Jr. (Cathy); 5 grandchildren Neil, Kelly, Allison, Adam, Sarah and 3 great-grandchildren William, Jacob, and new born baby Ethan.
Olive is also predeceased by her parents, Lillian and Raymond Langer and members of her family; Austin Langer, Robert (Elizabeth) Langer, Edward Langer, Geraldine (William Payne), Dorothy (Leo Parsons) as well as nephew Robert (Bob) Parsons and niece Judith (Judy) Parsons. She is also predeceased by her mother and father-in-law; Effie and Jacob Payne.
Olive leaves behind members of the Langer family; Joan Langer, Linda Langer, John (Glenda) Langer, Gladys (Garfield) Elliott, Francis Walsh, as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews in the Langer, Payne, Boland and Jewett Families.
The most important thing in Olive's life was her family and she showed that every day with her unconditional love to her beloved husband Thomas, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her large extended family. Olive loved being a homemaker and she was famous for her cooking and baking! She and her husband Tom enjoyed life to the fullest and their favorite place in the world was their cabin in Bonne Bay Pond, where everyone was welcome. Olive loved her visits with her family and friends and you could always count on her for a smile, a laugh and a story.
Olive lived the past 4 and a half years at Western Long Term Care and the family is very appreciative of the compassion, empathy and respect shown to her on a daily basis by the staff on Bayside Unit. There are too many of you to name but we know who you are and we will never forget.
Visitations will be held at Country Haven Funeral Home on Wednesday April 9, 2025 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm -9pm. The funeral service will be held at the chapel in Country Haven Funeral Home on Thursday April 10, 2025 at 2pm. Internment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery.
