It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Muriel Shears, on August 7, 2025 at the age of 86 years. Surrounded by her loving family, Mom passed away peacefully at the Western Long-Term Palliative Care Unit.

She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her dear children: Craig, Darlene (Marilyn), Darrell (Tilley), Audrey (Oscar), Mark (Jeanne), Pheobe (Clayton), and Heather (Erica); grandchildren: Julie, Amanda, Dustin, Kelsey, Megan, Danny, Dylan, Hailee, Robert, Taylor, Randy, Bradley, and Mitchell. Her great-grandchildren: Paige, Emily, Alison, Philip, Kamron, Ellie, Jack, Grayson, and Callen; her brother: Calvin; and special friend: Laverne; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Muriel was predeceased by her husband: Cecil; parents: Augustus and Deliliah Young; brother: William "Bill"; sister: Lucy; sister-in-law: Daphne; and her great-grandson: Oliver.

There will be a visitation taking place on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Rocky Harbour, NL from the hours of 9 AM to 11 AM, from where the funeral service will take place at 1 PM with Reverend Wilhemena Green officiating. Interment to follow at the St. Matthew's Anglican Cemetery, Rocky Harbour, NL.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the paramedics, doctors, nurses, and staff of the WMRH-Emergency Department, Stroke Unit, and the Palliative Care Unit for their kindness and compassion shown to our mother during her time of need. Also, a special thank you to the South Shore Fire Department for their quick response and professionalism.
