It is with great sadness that the family of the late Muriel Dewling (nee. Vokey) announce her passing on Sunday, September 6th, 2026 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in her 91st year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her children: David Dewling (Valda), Garfield “Gary” Dewling (Regina), Hazel Patey (Rick), Brenda Curtis (Gary), and Mary Dewling-Easton (Brian); grandchildren: Ronald Young (Melissa), Christopher Gushue (Tara), Duane Dewling (Hayley), Joe Curtis (Heather), Sebastian Dewling, Steven White (Lisa), Stephanie White, Nadine Gaudette, Sarah Easton (Tanya), and Brian Easton (Jennifer); great-grandchildren: Zayne, Gwendolyn, Alexis, Nathan, Bradley (Autumn), Brenna (Cameron), Dominic, Ava, Noah, Brooklynn, Owen, Oliver, Brianna, Max, Coby, Finnan, Gavin, and Ivy; and great-great-grandchild: Neveah Peddle; brothers and sisters: Irene George, Florence Scott (Bill), Joseph Vokey (Florence), and Wilson Vokey (Elaine); and sisters-in-law: Bernice Vokey, Paula Dewling, Rhoda Russell, and June Dewling; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Muriel was predeceased by her husband: Harvey Dewling; parents: Joseph and Mary Vokey; brothers and sisters: Henry Vokey (Carrie), Evelyn George (Eliol), Samuel Vokey (Phyllis), Doris Hall (Al), and Reginald Vokey; and brothers-in-law: Ted George, Alonzo Dewling, Victor Russell, and Charlie Dewling.
There will be a visitation taking place for family and friends at Country Haven Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 9th, 2026 from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, from where the funeral service will take place at 2 PM on Thursday, September 10th, 2026 at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist with Rev. Tanya White officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted, or a donation can be made in Muriel’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
