Obituary

It is with deep heartfelt sadness that the family of Molly Angelina Brake announces her passing on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at the Western Long Term Care Home in Corner Brook, at the age of 89 years.  Encircled in love, with her family by her side, she departed into peace to be reunited with the love of her life, Roland Walter Brake, with whom she built a loving family and an enduring legacy of love for 52 years.

Born in McIvers, NL to Joseph Henry and Sarah Elizabeth Lovell on October 6, 1935, she was a nurturing soul from a young age, and her natural ability to care, guide and support all those dear to her continued to grow throughout her lifetime. Starting with helping to care for the home and her younger siblings as a child, then moving to Meadows to work as a young woman, being a caretaker was her life's work. Following their marriage on May 25, 1955, Molly and Roland created a beautiful family for who she had such deep devotion, across all generations. In addition to the family, she raised with Roland, her care, compassion and kindness extended to the children she cared for as a babysitter, dear friends, friends who became family, and all who were fortunate to have met her.

Mourning her loss while cherishing her memory are her devoted children, Rouse and his wife Wendy, Alva and her partner Nora Walsh, Fay Gosse and her husband Rod, and Boyd and his wife Arwilda, her 5 grandchildren, Mindy Finlay and her partner Tom Gillingham, Megan Courtney and her husband Shaun, John and his partner Vicki Petronio, Sarah March and her husband Kyle, and Allison and her fiancé Grant Rose, her 8 great-grandchildren Emily and Noah Brake,  Nolan and Claire Finlay,  Sophie and Dawson March, Carter Petronio and Tristen Mohyla, sisters Marina Kinslow, Josephine Rideout, brothers Samuel (Kitty), Richard (Inez), sisters-in-law Maxine, Rosie, Avril, and Frances (Bert), brother-in-law Raymond (Mercedes) as well as a large circle of other relatives. In addition to her loving family, Molly leaves behind treasured friends Jacquie, Glen, Mark and Brandon Rumbolt, and Olive and Ralph Ellsworth, who were also like family to her.

Molly was predeceased by her husband Roland, her precious dog Tiny, her parents Joseph and Elizabeth Lovell, sisters Florence Brake (George), Nettie Park (Donald), Emma Blanchard (Lawrence), Greta, and Hannah Park (William), and step-sister Mildred,  brothers Esau, Maurice (Florence), Albert (Angela), Sandy, and William, brothers-in-law Samuel Rideout, Owen Davis, Dick Parsons, Albert House, and Gerald Kinslow, parents-in-law Maude and Francis Brake, brothers-in-law George, Clifton, Noble, Reginald and Rouse and sisters-in-law Mona, Claudia, and Gwennie.

Molly lived her final year at the Western Long Term Care Home, where the staff in Valleyside Unit certainly made it a home for her, and treated her like their own family, from her arrival to her final days and hours. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff, though especially Michelle Barry, Michelle "Bad Boots" Rumbolt, Georgie Robinson, Lisa Strickland, Veronica Baggs, Rhonda Blackwood, Crystal Blanchard, and Crystal Pink.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Meadows, NL. The funeral service will take place at 2 pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church with Reverends David Russell and George Critchell officiating. Molly will be temporarily interred at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Burial will follow in her final resting place at the Holy Trinity Church cemetery in the spring. As expressions of sympathy, a donation can be made in Molly's memory to Holy Trinity Church in Meadows, NL.
