Sheppard
January 2, 1944 – July 14, 2024
Mitt (Milton) Sheppard, age 80 of Corner Brook, passed away on July 14th, 2024 after a tough battle with cancer.
Mitt was born on January 2nd, 1944 to Horace and Lillian Sheppard in Lark Harbour. Mitt worked in many family businesses starting in Lark Harbour and then in Corner Brook with Sheppard's Grocery Store on Country Road, and The Model Shop on Broadway. He continued his career in sales with McCains and Hickmans. He then was Manager of Marble Mountain Ski Hill for many years. Mitt met his wife and "buddy", Judy, in high school at Herdman Collegiate. Mitt and Judy went on to have two children: Chad and Stacey. Mitt enjoyed his life fishing for salmon on the Lower Humber, for Cod fish at the cabin at No. 4 Brook, and many trips hunting in Loggers School Road, Gull Pond Road and wherever he could find a Moose. In 2000, Mitt retired and spent time with family.
Mitt is predeceased by his parents: Horace and Lillian; his sister: Rubina (Pierce) Borden; and his parents-in-law: Annie and Roy Martin. He is survived by his wife: Judy; children: Chad (Kim), and his daughter Stacey; sister: Peggy; and his grandchildren: Sidney, Taylor and Teagan; as well as his many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be a visitation held on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024 at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. There will be no formal funeral service. Interment to take place on Thursday, July 18th, 2024 at 1:30 PM at the St. James Anglican Church Cemetery, Lark Harbour, with Rev. Effie Organ officiating.
The family would like to send a thank-you to the staff at the Palliative Care unit for their amazing care.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Mitt's memory to the Western Regional Hospital Foundation-Palliative Care Unit.
