It is with great sadness that the family of the late Edward "Melvin" Gillingham announce his passing on August 7th, 2023 at the Corner Brook Palliative Care Unit in his 85th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 66 years: Shirley Gillingham (nee. Prosper); their children: Debbie LeDrew (Bob), Kimberly Jones (George) Tammy Barry (Rick), and Karen Gillingham (Matt); brothers and sisters: Ted, Clar, Barb, and Chris; his grandchildren: Rich, Scott, Richard, Joshua, and Wyatt; great-grandchildren: Conrad, Sarah, Nathan, Violet, Olivia, and Alexa; good buddy and friend, Ernie Wheeler; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Melvin is predeceased by his parents: Hubert and Mabel Gillingham; and his brothers and sisters: Raymond, Gerald, Thomas, Elizabeth, and Loretta.

Outside of his love for his family, Melvin loved woodworking, fishing, and many trips to his cabins. He was a jack of all trades, and a master of none! He could often be found tinkering with his many projects, out for a fish on the river, or enjoying a Leaf's game. He was a strong willed man, and his love and laughter will be deeply missed. Thank you to the staff of Palliative Care and Westmount Estates for their care and compassion to our father and his family.

There will be a visitation held on Thursday, August 10th, 2023 at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, from where the funeral service will take place on Friday, August 11th, 2023 in the Country Haven Chapel at 11 AM with Rev. Katherine Short officiating. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted, or a donation can be made in Melvin's memory to the Daffodil Place (https://support.cancer.ca/).
