It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Melita Dorothy Higgins (nee. Brown) announce her peaceful passing on Sunday, July 30th, 2023 at the Corner Brook Palliative Unit in her 90th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her sons: Tony (Daphne), Sterling (Sharon), Randy (Susan), and Roy (Lily); her daughters: Karen (Glenn), and Lisa (Max); step-son: Robert Higgins (B.B.); 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and her loving sister: Violet Pardy; as well as a large circle of extended relatives, and many friends.

Melita is predeceased by her husband: Joe Spurrell; her second husband: John Higgins; mother and father: George and Margaret Brown; brothers: John Brown, Jim Brown, Fred Brown, and Ben Eastman; sisters: Maisie Lane, Gladys Neal, and Eva Burton; grandson: Rodney Spurrell; and daughter-in-law: Lillian Spurrell.

At Melita's request, cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation held on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023 at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, from where the funeral service will take place on Thursday, August 3rd, 2023 at 2 PM in the Country Haven Chapel with Rev. Mickton officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Melita's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
