It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Maxwell Bramwell Russell announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit on Saturday May 16th 2026 at the age of 83 years.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his daughter; Suzanne (Jimmy) Marks, Son; Bram (Bridget) Russell. Grandchildren; Matthew (Haylie), Emily (Thomas), Brooke and Bailey. His Sister; Ada (John) Barrett. Brothers; Woodrow (Bun) Russell, and Randy (Sharon) Russell. Special friend; Julia Osbourne.  Also, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Maxwell was predeceased by his wife of 51 years; Mary (Nee Joyce). Father; Isaac and Mother; Meritta (Nee Avery). And Brother; Roland.

Maxwell’s greatest joys in life were spending time with family and friends and being in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and felt most at home spending time in nature. He loved his yearly trips to Serpentine River, Labrador and New Brunswick.

He will be remembered for his soft heart and caring way and vibrant sense of humour which lasted until his final days.

A special thank-you to special friend Julia and family for the love and kindness shown to Maxwell during the last five years. Thank-you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the WMRH, especially the Palliative Care Unit. The care and compassion Maxwell and family received helped us through this most difficult time and will never be forgotten.

There will be no formal visitation or funeral service at this time, a graveside service will take place on Saturday May 23rd 2026 at 10 AM at Mount Patricia Cemetery with Rev. David Russell officiating. No flowers by request, instead a donation in his memory can be made to the Parkinsons Society of Canada. https://www.parkinson.ca/
