Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Mary Patricia "Pat" Peckford (nee. Robertson) announce her passing at the Western Long-term Care-Palliative Care Unit on December 19th, 2024 at the age of 76 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her husband of almost 57 years: Ronald Peckford; sons: Dean Peckford (Janet), and Rodney Peckford (Susan); grandchildren: Emma (Ian), Sophia, Benjamin, Stephen, and Maggie; great-granddaughter: Lydia Jones; brothers and sisters: Tina, Dale (Joy), Gregg (Daphne), Bob, Diane (Gary), Maureen, Terry, Wayne (Beverley), Ruth (Loyola), Dave, Bill, Joan, Danny, and Ted (Bonnie); brothers and sisters-in-law: Barbara (Mike), Carl (Georgina), Wayne (Mary), Abbie, Rudy (Christine), and Greg (Karen); as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews of whom she thought dearly.

Pat is predeceased by her parents: Martha and Adolphus Robertson; mother and father-in-law: Lydia and Stephen Peckford; sister: Margaret Jacobs; brothers: Paul Robertson, Father Jim Robertson, and two infant brothers Michael and Timothy; brothers-in-law: Glen Peckford, Walter Peckford, and Clar Spencer; and her sister-in-law: Mary Robertson, and Linda Peckford.

Pat was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a large family that she was so proud of, and many close friends whom she cared for like family. She loved people and loved life. She loved her cabin, her camp, hunting, and fishing. She loved a good get together and always loved music and dancing. The past few years have been difficult with her diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease, and Lewy Body Dementia. Many people were so good to Pat throughout her illness and while we cannot thank everyone individually, we would like to thank the Lohne's Complex staff for their wonderful care they provided to Pat this year. The staff of WMRH-4A, and the Palliative Care Unit for the wonderful care provided for her. Daughter-in-law: Susan Peckford, for caring for her as if she was her own mother. Her sisters: Joan and Ruth, for the exceptional care and visits. Her special niece: Heather, for spending quality time and helping her with meals when she needed it the most. Last but definitely not least; her best friends: Gerry and Elaine, for caring for and supporting both Pat and Ron like their own family.

There will be a visitation taking place on Monday, December 23rd, 2024 at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, from where the funeral service will take place at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 24th, 2024 in the Country Haven Chapel with Rev. Mickton officiating. Interment to take place at a later date.  As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted, or a donation can be made in Pat's memory to the Parkinson Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
