It is with great sadness that the family of the late dancing queen, Mary Irene Parsons, announce her passing surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, July 30th, 2026 at the Western Long-Term Palliative Care unit at the age of 86 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her children: John (Penny), Susan (Dan), Connie (Rob), and Rennie (Aaron); siblings: Shirley, Jackie (Brian), Bud, Olive, Lillian, Faye (Kenny), and Joy (Glen); brother and sisters-in-law: Joy (Ted), Dawn (Lew), Freda, and Derek (Sylvia); as well as her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many, many friends.

Irene was predeceased by her husband: Ben Parsons; their son, the golden child: Benny Parsons; grandson: Tyler Troyan; sisters: Linda, and Sadie; and her parents: George and Theresa Compagnon.

In following Irene’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of life taking place for family and friends on Sunday, August 2nd, 2026 at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 2-4 PM. There will be no formal funeral service at this time. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Irene’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the WLTC-Palliative Care Unit for their kindness and compassion shown to our dear mother during her time of need.
