It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary "Geraldine" Field (Lee) announce her passing on August 28 th , 2022, at the Corner Brook Palliative Care Unit after a short illness in her 83 rd year. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children: Maria, and Marc (Alison); precious grandchildren: Isabella Antao, Anthony Antao, Shannon Field, David Field, and Aaron Field; her brothers: Peter (Mary) Lee, Patrick (Florence) Lee, Romeo Lee, John (Elizabeth) Lee, and Gerard (Loretta) Lee; sisters: Theresa Lee, Marie (Karl) Wyatt, Madonna (Carl) Simmons, Bernadette (Robert) Hughes, Susanna (William) Culhane, Veronica Price, and Imelda Lee; brother-in-law, Joe Arnold; sisters-in-law, Linda, Angie Lee and Janice Dye; as well as her dear friend, Marie Roche; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Geraldine is predeceased by her loving husband, David Ambrose Field (2015); her parents, Thomas Patrick Lee and Mary Gertrude Gould; as well as: Dermot Lee, Ronald Lee, Elaine Lee, Thomas Lee Jr., Elizabeth Arnold, Kevin Lee, Leonard Lee, Deborah Lee; mother and father-in-law, Ambrose and Joan Field; sisters-in-law: Betty Lee and Colette Lee; and brothers-in-law: Fred Price and Tony Dye.
Geraldine was born on December 30 th , 1938 and grew up with her 19 brothers and sisters in Corner Brook. She entered the convent right out of high school where she spent 13 happy years. She eventually left the convent due to illness returning home to her parents' where she lived until she met, and married the love of her life, David. They had many happy years together; the nature of David's work allowing them to travel the world, collecting many happy memories that would last them a lifetime together. She was an active and very devout follower of the Roman Catholic Faith. She even spent many years volunteering as a pastoral minister to the sick and lonely in Benoit's Cove and Corner Brook.
The family would like to express gratitude to the Doctors and staff at Western Memorial Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit for their great kindness and care of Geraldine during her illness. Special thanks to Vonnie for the special care she took with her sister Geraldine.
A visitation will be held at Country Haven Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 31 st , 2022, starting at 1:00 PM for family, with an open visitation for friends from the hours of 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 1 st , 2022, at the Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Parish in Corner Brook, NL at 10:00 AM with Father Terry officiating. Cremation to take place. Interment to follow at the New Roman Catholic Cemetery in Benoit's Cove on Friday, September 2 nd , 2022, at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Autism Society in Geraldine's memory. Livestream available on the Country Haven Facebook page.
