Lorraine Mae Loder

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Lorraine Mae Loder, on October 25, 2026, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook.

Born on May 17, 1945, Lorraine met and married the love of her life, Ralph, in Summerside. She gave so much of herself to her community, volunteering over the years with the Summerside 4-H Rockets, the seniors’ group, and darts. She was also a hairdresser for many years, continuing to share her skill and care with others until just a couple of months before her passing.

Lorraine’s family was her greatest joy. Her face would light up whenever one of them came through the door, especially her beloved grand children and great-grandchildren. She was immensely proud to be their grandmother and treasured every moment with them. No one ever left Nan’s home empty-handed. Whether it was a sweet treat or leftovers tucked away to take home, she always made sure there was something to enjoy later. And nothing could quite compare to Nan’s cinnamon rolls. An avid cook and baker, she showed her love in all the little things—and a Diet Pepsi was always close at hand.

Lorraine leaves to mourn her children, Lionel; Roderick (Sue-Ann); Terri-Lynn (Dave); and Koren (Don); her eight grandchildren, Leah, Liam, Cody, Kristopher, Meghan, Mack, Amie, and Caleb; and her five great-grandchildren, Theodore, Mateo, Lacey, Lucy, and baby Gillett, who is expected in 2027. She will also be lovingly remembered by many family members and friends.

Lorraine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ralph, whom she missed dearly since his passing in 2018; her father, Lionel McAuley; her mother, Jane McAuley; and her parents-in-law, Minnie and Douglas Loder; as well as other family members. Her family finds comfort in imagining her reunited with Ralph, the love of her life. Though they will miss her more than words can say, they will carry her warmth, generous heart, bright smile, and love of family with them always.

Lorraine was a truly special woman, loved by so many, and her memory will live on in every shared story, every cinnamon roll, and every Diet Pepsi raised in her honor. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all family and friends for their love and support, and lasting gratitude to the staff of the 5C Stroke Unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital for the care Lorraine received.

There will be a visitation taking place for family and friends at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Summerside, NL on Wednesday, October 28th, 2026 at 1 PM, from where the funeral service will take place at 2 PM with Rev. Greg Loder officiating. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Lorraine’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
