Lillian
Murphy
March 15, 1945 – November 4, 2022
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our sister Lillian Murphy. Lillian, the oldest of our family, was a wonderful sister, a kind, intelligent person with an adventurous spirit and a big heart. Shortly after graduating with a commercial course Lillian moved to St. John's and started work at MUN. When our mother passed away in 1980 she transferred to the Grenfell Campus and remained in Corner Brook helping to care for our younger siblings.
After retiring she found time to indulge her favourite sports, baseball and curling. She also did a little travelling, visiting all provinces of Canada and parts of the USA.
Things changed in 2014. Lillian was diagnosed with vascular dementia, a cruel illness that saw her suffer a series of strokes that slowly robbed her of all her faculties and took her life.
Lillian was predeceased by her parents Tom and Sadie (McKenzie), infant sister Janet and brothers Jack, Ron, Ken and Larry.
Left to mourn are her sisters Winnie Mullaly (late Ed), May O'Driscoll (late Cyril), Brenda (Jim) Penney, Linda Oliver (late Aiden), Sharon (Pat) Humphries, Rita, Donna (Greg) Woodworth, Michelle (Rick) Rideout and her brothers Ernest and Brian (late Betty).
Cremation has taken place and a family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
