It is with great sadness, we the family of Leo Aloyseus McCarthy announce his passing at Corner Brook Long Term Care Center on Monday Feb 3, 2020 at the age of 95 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving companion: Madonna Pittman of 50 years; his son John (Karen); his daughters: Regina(Ron), Mary(Mike); his stepchildren: Sherry(Rod), Jack(Trish), Terry, Susan(Otto), Bernard (Roxanne) and Christine, 20 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren.  Leo was predeceased by his daughter: Angela and by his sons Peter and Paul and Jim Pittman.  A special thank you to the first floor Veteran Ward staff of Corner Brook Long Term Care for your exceptional care and kindness and to his doctor: Dr. Morris. Leo lived a full life and enjoyed a good game of scat with his friends and his daughters Regina, Mary and granddaughter Roseanne…...…but he did not like to lose.  He loved to read and was always ready for a good debate on any subject.  He loved his special pet companion, Chico.  A visitation for family and friends will be held at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Wednesday, Feb 5, 2020 and Thursday, Feb 6, 2020 from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 pm, from where the funeral service will be held from Country Haven Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, Feb 7, 2020 at 10:30am. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery.  As expressions of sympathy, there are no flowers by request, memorial donations in memory of Leo can be made to the SPCA.  Funeral arrangement have been entrusted to Country Haven Funeral Home.  The family guestbook for condolences can be signed by visiting www.country-haven.ca .
