Karen Alfreda
Hussey
November 21, 1956 – January 22, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Karen Hussey (nee. Park) announce her passing on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025 at the Corner Brook Palliative Care Unit in her 68th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her partner and best friend: Terry Matthews; her son: Dusty, daughter-in-law: Tamara; and her precious grandson: Liam.
She also leaves her dear cousin and good friend: Elvis Park (Heather); life-long friend: Tony Wilton; her go-to family and friends: Millicent, Lorraine, Jean, Marlain, and Linda; as well as many others, too many to mention individually, who went above and beyond to help her in so many ways during her illness.
Karen was predeceased by her husband: Douglas Hussey Jr. (1984), her mother: Polly; treasured grandparents: Simon and Amy Park; her special aunt: Alfreda – who were three of the most important people in her life and filled the role as parents from her childhood, as well as a long list of other special departed family members from both the Park, Hussey, and Payne families.
As per Karen's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation taking place on Monday, January 27th, 2025 at the St. Nicholas Anglican Church, Cox's Cove, NL from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, from where the funeral service will take place at 2 PM on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025 with Rev. Terry Loder officiating. Interment to follow at the church cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her dear husband, Douglas. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Karen's memory to the St. Nicholas Anglican Church Fund.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to many doctors and nurses for the exemplary care given to her during her long but courageous battle with cancer, especially the staff of the chemo unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook.
"Forever Loved"
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all who've shown their support during this difficult time, and wishes to invite everyone to the Golden Rainbow Seniors Hall for tea and coffee following the service.
