It is with heavy hearts that the family of Joseph William Bennett announces his passing. Born on April 16, 1954, on Woods Island, Newfoundland.

Joseph lived a life filled with love, family, and community. He had a deep passion for the outdoors and spent many of his happiest moments riding his bike, going trapping and fishing with his close buddy, Shane Aylward.

Joseph leaves to mourn his loving wife of 37 years, Diane McKay; his devoted children, Maureen (Jody) McKay, Lisa Greening, and Jason McKay; and his beloved mother, Rita Bennett (White). He is also survived by his sisters, Leona Hynes (Jim) and Madonna Curtis (Glenn); sisters-in-law, Brenda Power, and Audrey Curtis (Peter); and brothers-in-law, Doug Campbell and Glenn Campbell.

His grandchildren, Skylar, Chelsea, Brittany, Hailey, Kaylee, and Jay; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Jacob, Stephen, Connor and Violet. His nieces and nephews, Charlene, Wayne, Stephen, Rod, Glenn, Neil, Michelle, Jackie, Jamie, Jason, Lori, Melissa, Peter, Diana, Jennifer, and April, along with a large circle of extended family and friends.

Joseph was predeceased by his son, Jorden McKay; son-in-law John Greening, his father, Benjamin Bennett; his family-in-law, Emma Jean Campbell, Clayton Party Joan and John Bowie, Marilyn Gabriel, Kevin Power; his nephew, Ralph Hynes; and his niece, Terri Lynn Pottle - affectionately known as "Dory Plug".

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

There will be a visitation at Country Haven Funeral Home on Thursday June 4th 2026 from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9PM. Interment will take place on Friday June 5th 2026 at 1PM. No flowers by request. Donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
