It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joseph Pius Bennett announce his passing on January 23 ^rd , 2023 at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Center in his 78 ^th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 51 years: Leona (nee. Simmonds); three children: Monty (Sherri), Marsha, and Mark; grandchildren: Samantha, and Michael; siblings: Patricia, Janetta (Gary), Mary/Dolly, Dana (Elaine), Donnie, Wanda (Tyrone), Gary (Sherry), Sherry (Darrell), Shawn (Elizabeth), Karen (Brett), Connie (Fred), and Michelle (Shawn); brothers and sisters-in-law: Reg (Margaret), Violet (Reg), Fred (Marilyn), Lucy (Derek), and Vivian (Roy); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Joe is predeceased by his parents: Pius and Alice; sister: Lorraine; brother: Charles; parents-in-law: Samuel and Dorothy; and brother and sister-in-law: Irene (William), and Calvin.

Joe loved to spend his time reading, cooking, fishing, hunting, spending time at his cabin on his childhood home of Woods Island, and in his later years, at his camper in East Branch.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Long Term Care Center (3 South) for the excellent care, friendship, and compassion that was shown to our dear Joe over the past 11 years; especially during his final days. It will never be forgotten.

There will be a visitation held on Thursday, January 26 ^th , 2023 at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 2-4 PM, from where the funeral service will take place on Friday, January 27 ^th , 2023 in the Country Haven Chapel at 10 AM with Father Edward Terry officiating. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, no flowers by request, instead a donation can be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation in Joe's memory.
