Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and sadness of heart that the family of Larry Mckay announce his passing at the Palliative Care Unit at the age of 68, surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves to mourn his loving spouse of 43 years, Joan Gardiner; daughters Maureen Mckay (Jody) and Lisa Greening (John); sons Jason Mckay, Chris Gardiner, Danny Gardiner, Stephen Gardiner (Hilary), Justin Gardiner (Caroline), Mark Gardiner (Holly); grandchildren Skylor, Chelsea, Brittany, Hailey, Samantha, Tyrese, Cole, Brandon, George, Aria, and grandbaby to be; great-grandchildren Lexi, Jacob, Stephen and Connor; siblings Mary (Rennie) Canning, Barbara Bennett (Leo), Linda Spears, Diane Neary, Bruce Mckay, Paulette Belge; aunt Mary Singleton; uncle Paddy Mckay; brother-in-law Reg Saulnier; mother-in-law Mary Gardiner; in-laws Kevin Gardiner, Ray Gardiner (Shirley), Theresa Carew, and John Gardiner, as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents John (Jack) and Elsie Mckay; sister Margaret Saulnier; father-in-law Clarence Gardiner; in-laws Monty Carew and Roy Williams.

Larry was a gentle man with a beautiful soul full of creativity and unwavering love for his family. He shared a passion for music, fishing and antique cars. He was a jack of all trades who spent his time teaching his children about many things, from how to change a simple spark plug to swapping motors. He had the musical ability to listen to a song, pick up his guitar and be able to play it for life. He enjoyed spending time at his trailer in Howley with his family. He was always surrounded and will be forever loved and missed, by a large circle of family and friends.

We would like to thank the medical teams at the Cancer Centre, Western Memorial Regional Hospital, and the Palliative Care Unit, as well as our family and friends for all of their continuous support.

Per Larry's wishes, visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 24 th , 2021 from the hours of 2-4, 7-9 pm with funeral service to take place at Country Haven Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, November 25 th . 2021 at 2 pm with Father Lee Lainey officiating. Cremation to follow. Interment to be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one's choice.
