Special thank you to the staff at Corner Brook Long Term Care. John was born in Carbonear and moved to Corner Brook with his family as a young boy. Corner Brook is also where he met the love of his life, Josephine; they were married in 1964 and spent 60 wonderful years together, with their love evident to everyone who knew them. After spending two years in Toronto, John and Josie returned to Corner Brook to raise their children. John went on to become a successful businessman in Corner Brook, owning companies D.P.V. and Western Hydraulic, the latter of which he passed down to his son, John Jr. John was active playing and excelling in many sports including hockey, tennis, golf, Judo, squash and more. He was an avid Snowmobiler and spent many weekends in camps in the Lewis Hills with his wife, friends and children. He was a kind and generous person and was very supportive of family and friends. He was a fun Dad and had a great sense of humor. He was loved and will be missed terribly by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
At John's request, cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 17th 2024 from the hours of 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Country Haven Funeral Home from where a private family service will take place on Saturday, October 19th at 10 am with Father Terry officiating. Interment to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a Parkinson's Non-Profit organization of your choice is much appreciated.
