Obituary

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Joan Hilda Fudge (nee. Clarke), a loving and cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Joan passed peacefully on Wednesday April the 15th in Corner Brook, NL.

She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her children: Josephine (Wade), Brian (Shelia and family), Kathleen (David), Jacqueline (Richard), and Geraldine (Richard); grandchildren: Roger, Dora Lee, Brandon, Trevor, David, Robin Lee, Colleen, Mason, and Matthew; great-grandchildren: Alexandra, Darcey , Cameron, Charolotte, Luke, Leo, Seth, Camden, and Liam; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Mom was predeceased by her husband: Overton; parents: Walter and Lily Clarke; daughter: Pauline; and her siblings.

Joan was born in Stanhope, NL on March 27th 1934. She was the youngest of six siblings and a daughter, a sister, a cousin, an aunt, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother. After finishing her schooling, she married Overton and ran Fudge and Son store. They were both proud of the store and ran a successful "chipvan ". She had the best fries in town. Joan was known to many of the children in Stanhope as Mom, and was a great confidante! She was well known for her yard sales in which she enjoyed the interaction. She was a proud member of the United Church and member of the UCW. In her lifetime she had many conversations with the Lord as he was a great sense of solace in her times of need. In her earlier years her mother taught her to play the organ in which she sometimes played at Church. Joan was very creative. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and quilting. A cherished item remembered by family members are crazy quilts that were dated and signed! Joan had a love for animals and lovingly care for several during her life. We have lots of memories, which we will cherish and talk about a lot. You are gone and taken a piece of our hearts, but never forgotten.

We would like to extend a heart felt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Corner Brook Long-Term Care Center for their kindness and support shown to our dear mother.

In keeping with mom's wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service and interment in Lewisporte will be announced at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, a donation can be made in Joan's memory to a charity of one's choice.

"Devoted wife, loving mother, special friend."
