It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jean Evangeline Matthews announce her passing at the Western Long Term Care, on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at the age of 87 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children:  Keith (Pam), Paul, Perry, Jennifer: grandchildren:  Sara, Erin;  great-grandchild:  Nicholas; sister: Shirley Dyke; brother: Gilbert Smart (Marilyn); Aunts: Eleanor Baird, Joyce Gillett; nieces and nephews:  Bruce, Glen, Elizabeth, Drew  Tyler, Julia; fur baby:  Minnie;  Baird Cousins:  Margaret,  Dianna, Austin, Roger; Vatcher Cousins: Tom, Elsie, June and Robin; Warren Cousins: Jean, Dougald; King Cousins:  Marilyn, Judy, Eleanor, Roberta; Gillett Cousins:  Ross, Lorna; and Andrea Patten;  close friends: Alexander Powell, David Tibbitts, Edna Hodgett, Colin Burke, Elizabeth & Bert Penney, Elizabeth & Jody Long, Lisa St. Croix (Lloyd), Penny Colbourne (Jeff), Majorie and Lorne Tilley.  Jean was predeceased by her husband, Byron Matthews (2010); her parents:  Gilbert & Hannah Smart.  At Jean's request, cremation has taken place.  A private visitation at 10 am and the funeral at 11 am will take place from Country Haven Funeral Home Chapel, 167 Country Road on thursday, May 20, 2021, with the Rev. John Van Vliet officiating.  Interment to follow at Mount Patricia.  The family wishes to thank the staff at Nature's Haven Unit of Western Long Term Care for the exceptional care Jean received. As expressions of sympathy,  there are no flowers by request, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jean Matthews can be made to the SPCA or Sunshine Kitty Rescue.
