Jean Rowena
Hamlyn
January 18, 1952 – December 5, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rowena "Jean" Hamlyn (nee. Allen) announce her peaceful passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Thursday, December 5th, 2024, at the age of 72 years.
Originally from Corner Brook, Jean moved to Churchill Falls with her small family to expand by one more during her years there. During her time in Churchill Falls, she enjoyed time at Arts and Crafts making things in ceramics, playing cards with friends, movie nights with her family, Sunday TV bingo, and enjoying time with her family; whether at home or on family vacations, it always brought much joy into her life. After 32 years, Jean and her husband, Eugene, retired and moved back to Corner Brook they spent the rest of her years. You could find Jean at bingo, or at a card game when she was able.
She was an adored wife, amazing mother and grandmother, sister and friend. She had a kind heart with a gentle spirit. She was truly loved by many.
Jean leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her husband: Eugene; children: Mark (Stephanie), Craig (Tanya), and Laura Lynn (Ashley); grandchildren: Denika, Matthew, Lavender, Jared, Parker, and Peyton; brothers and sisters: Calvin (Donnie), Ina (George), Shirley, Linda, and Rhonda; as well as her in-laws, other relatives, and many friends.
She is predeceased by her mother: Ilene; father: Elijah; brothers: Russell, Max, Don, Reg, and Danny; and her sister; Beaulah.
There will be a visitation taking place at Country Haven Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, December 7th, 2024 at 10 AM, from where the funeral service will take place at 11 AM with Rev. Jocelyn Cook officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Jean's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
