James "Jim"
Walter Cox
September 14, 1959 – October 9, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of the late James "Jim" Walter Cox announce his passing, surrounded by his loving family, at the Western Long-Term Palliative Care Unit, on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at the age of 66 years, after a long and courageous battle with illness. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his devoted wife of 38 years: Florence (nee. Vincent); their sons: Ian (Lindsay), Shane (Kayla) both of Vernon, BC, James (Kayla) of Gillams, Justin (Kayla), Jordan (Leanne) both of Summerside, NL, and Jaiden of Corner Brook, NL; grandchildren: Nicole, James, Dawson, Kellan, Kayleigh, Kalea, Cadence, Bentley, and Hunter; brother: Shawn (Fay) of Mississauga, ON; sister: Judy (Bil) of Cox's Cove, NL; brother-in-law: Rob (Wendy) of Dartmouth, NS; and sisters-in-law: Linda (Skip) of Dartmouth, NS, and Dianna of Kelowna, BC; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and many, many friends.
Jim was predeceased by his parents: Walter (2011) and Geraldine (2016) Cox; sister: Margaret (2019); and parents-in-law: Bob (2009) and Florence (2023) Vincent and a nephew Stephen.
Jim was a devoted husband to his loving wife, and an amazing father to his six fine, young men. When he wasn't working at the Sir Richard Squires Building, or up the highway doing maintenance, you could find him at the cabin with his family. He loved to teach his grandchildren how to hunt for moose, and even tie on a rabbit snare. He always looked forward to his vacations to British Columbia to spend time with his family, whom he spent many hours hiking and fishing with. In Jim's younger years he loved playing hockey, and later in life he passed that passion onto his youngest son, Jaiden. You could always find Jim up in the stands cheering him on! Jim will be greatly missed by his family, and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
There will be a visitation taking place on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, from where the funeral service will take place at 2 PM on Sunday, October 12, 2025 in the Country Haven Chapel with Pastor Orvin Canning officiating. Interment to follow at the Cox's Cove, Pentecostal Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted, or a donation may be made in Jim's memory to a charity of one's choice.
The family would like to extend a very heart felt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, and the Western Long-Term Palliative Care unit for their endless support and care provided to Jim during his time of need, especially during these last 10 and a half months. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
"A loving father, so tender and kind, what a beautiful memory you left behind"
