It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Wayne Matthews announce his passing on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 75 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his devoted wife of 51 years: Winnie Matthews; three sons: James (Tammy), Christopher (Rosalind), and Scott (Vicktoria); beloved grandchildren: Emily, Bella, Robbie, John-Thom, Rowen, Millie, Rebecca, Leigha, Eric, Riley, Jessica (Devon), Juliet, and Jaden; great-grandchildren: Ryland, and Arya; brothers and sisters: Tom, Ralph (Shelly), Dave (Alice), Bernard (Laverne), Brian, Peter (Sharon), Gertrude (Jim), John (Tereska), Marguerite (Michael), and Desmond; and his special sister-in-law: Betty Rowe; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Wayne was predeceased by his parents: Ralph and Rita; grandparents: Gertrude and Bernard; brothers: Gerald, and John; and sisters-in-law: Debbie, and Christine.

At his request cremation has taken place. There will be a private service to take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, followed by a private interment at Townsite-Roman Catholic Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Wayne's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
