It is with great sadness that the family of the late Irene Elizabeth Stratton announce her passing after a courageous battle with liver disease, at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the age of 70 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her long-time partner: Walter Sheppard; her daughters and sons-in-law: Patricia Parker (Steve), and Amanda George (Neil); her stepchildren: Jeremy Sheppard (Anne Marie Lapierre), Cori Lynn Sheppard; her two beloved grandchildren: Michael and Kallie; and step grandchildren: Brody and Tristen. Irene also leaves behind her siblings: Edward Brake, Tom Brake (Vicky), Esther Byrne (Tony), Kathleen Smith (Neil) and Rose Mcnaughtn; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Irene is predeceased by her loving husband of 24 years: Roy Stratton; parents: Pierce and Sarah; siblings: Mildred McConnel (Patrick), Gertrude Noseworthy (Chesley), Wayne Brake (Joanne); and sister in-law Daphne Brake (Edward).

Cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation taking place on Sunday, December 22nd, 2024, at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, from where the funeral service will take place on Monday, December 23rd, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Curling, NL, with Father Lee Lainey officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted, or a donation can be made in Irene's memory to one's choice.
