Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Herbert Knee share the news of his passing on January 9th, 2022. Herb was the last living member of his family and was pre deceased by his wife Audrey Bernice Knee, his parents Alan and Bethia Knee,  Brothers Peter,  Fred, Gilbert, Sisters Mona, Evelyn, Minnie, Nina, and grandson Mark Murphy.

Herb grew up in Badgers Quay, but moved to Corner Brook as a young man. He and his wife built their life here and raised their seven children. He worked most of his life with Labour's International Union of North America (LIUNA), as a Union Representative for local 1208. After retiring from that position he spent time on road construction and building the platforms for Hibernia.

Our Dad had a passion for life. Together with his wife they built a cabin in Howley and enjoyed 20 beautiful years of lake life and memories. He loved woodworking and was a regular at the local Flea Market for many years. He loved people and quickly endeared himself to anyone he met. One of his favorite places was Aromas. He could be found there everyday for breakfast and loved socializing with the staff there.

Dad greeted everyday with a smile on his face and a song in his heart. He loved his Family, his Children, his Grand children and Great grandchildren. He touched the lives of many and will forever be missed.

He is survived by his children Sharon O'Bryan(Terry), Crystal Murphy (Gary), Paula Sullivan (Ed), Colleen Rose (Shawn Blakely), Todd Knee (Bonnie), Roxanne Bate ( Joe), Mona Carberry (Brian). Grand Children Terra Penrose (Chris), Krista Newhook ( Darrell), Jason Murphy (Melissa), Jody Murphy, Kelly Murphy-Wall (Trevor), Nichole Murphy, Dion Brake (Ashley), Cory Brake (Christine), Courtney Clark (Steve), Taylor Rose, Jarrett Knee, Mitchell Knee, Ryan Bate (Allison), Nikolas Bate, Mathew Carberry, Brandon Carberry and 17 Great grand children.

We would like to say a special Thank you to the staff at Western Long Term Care Palliative Care Unit. Your professionalism, compassion and care for both our Dad and ourselves were exemplary over the past month and you should be very proud of the work you do.
