It is with great sadness that the family of the late Herbert James "Jim" Fost, announce his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, on June 4th, 2026, at the age of 82 years.
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 62 years: Virginia; sons: Darryl (Shelley), and Jeff (Mihaela); grandsons: Michael (Marissa), Alexander (Isabelle), Jesse and Spencer; and three great grandchildren: Hallyn, Veronica, and Henry; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jean Bryant, Lewis & Elsa Bryant, Joan Bishop, Gord Crocker, Beverly Canning, Marie & Roger Jackson, Evelyn & Barry Brace, Clyde & Una Bryant, Mary & Bob Rowe, Jackie & Derrick Cumby, and Carol Fost; his driving buddy: Kerry Fost (nephew); along with close friends Wayne & Peg Welsh, Gord & Verna Buffett, Garf & Phyllis Cadwell, Dave & Shirley Lomond, Ivan Marshall; and a large circle of nieces and nephews, extended relatives, and many friends.
Jim was predeceased by his parents: Harrison and Elsie; parents-in-law: Elwin and Violet Bryant; brother: Wallace; sisters-in-law: Barbara Sooley, Marilyn Crocker, and Elaine Fost; brothers-in-law Bruce Canning, Wayne Bishop, Jack Sooley and Tom Soul; close friends: Joan & Bill Andrews, and Murdock Stone; as well as many loved ones who passed before him.
Throughout his career, Jim was a salesman in many capacities, building relationships wherever he went and leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.
Jim found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved walking the trails, taking in the beauty of nature and the peace that came with every step. An avid photographer, he was always on the lookout for the perfect shot, capturing the beauty of the world around him and preserving moments that might otherwise have gone unnoticed. Music was always close to his heart, especially the songs of Elvis Presley. Family gatherings were rarely complete without him picking up his guitar, filling the room with music, laughter, and memories that will be cherished forever.
He also had a passion for driving. Whether it was a short trip or a long journey, he loved being behind the wheel, embracing the sense of freedom and adventure that the open road provided.
Jim’s sense of humor, love of music, and appreciation for life's everyday moments touched many lives. Though he will be greatly missed, his spirit lives on in the stories we share, the songs we hear, the trails we walk, and the freedom we feel on the open road.
There will be a visitation from family and friends taking place at Country Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026 from the hours of 12-2 PM, from where the funeral service will take place at 2 PM in the Country Haven Chapel with Rev. Catherine Short officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Jim's memory to your local S.P.C.A.
