Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Helen Murphy (née Vincent) on September 12, 2025, at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility, at the age of 76.

Helen was born on December 18, 1948, spending most of her life in Irishtown-Summerside. Helen worked at Walmart and was a proud and active member of her community. She devoted her time as a volunteer and served faithfully as treasurer of the United Church in Summerside, and contributed her warmth and kindness wherever she was needed. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided her in everything she did.

Helen will be remembered for her kind heart and open door—always welcoming anyone who needed a place to stay, a meal, or simply a listening ear. With her quick wit, playful humor, and love of dressing up in costumes at gatherings, she ensured there was always laughter and joy.

She leaves to mourn with loving memories her children; Chad Murphy (Ashley) and Crista Lodge (Steve) and her cherished grandchildren; Mason and Maddy, who were her pride and joy. Helen is also survived by her brothers; Ernie (Joyce), Woodrow (Carol), Ron (Dale), Jordy (Janice), Andy (Lesa), and Louis (Susan). Her sisters; Nina (Rick) and Donna (Wade) and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her loving parents; Louis and Dora Vincent.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff, nurses, and doctors of Corner Brook Long Term Care, Western Memorial Regional Hospital, and The Lanes Retirement Living for their compassionate care and support over the past several years.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 16th from 7–9 PM at Country Haven Funeral Home 167 Country Road Corner Brook. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at Country Haven Chapel at 2 PM with Rev. Jocelyn Cook officiating. Interment to follow, at the Summerside United Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Society Newfoundland & Labrador or the Western Regional Hospital Foundation in Helen's memory.
