Hans Kristian Kavli

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hans Kristian Kavli announce his peaceful passing at the Western Long-Term Palliative Care Unit on Tuesday, October 20th, 2026 at the grand age of 91 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his children: Judy (Alex), Keith (Diane), Ruth (David), Darren (Toni), and Darlene (Steve); beloved grandchildren: Kristie (Jared), Chad (Cecelia), Natasha (Mike), Adam (Stephanie), Caitlyne (Darian), Kristian (Jacqueline), Joshua (Ashley), Danielle (Graeme), and Krystal (Jerome); great-grandchildren: Jack, Sidney, Hadley, Roland, Penelope, Violet, Josephine, Freya, Weston, Lillian, Livia, and McKenna; brother: Roy Kavli and family of Campbell River, BC; and nieces and nephews residing in the United States (Gertrude) and the Rose family; as well as a his dear friend: Keith Green.

Hans was predeceased by his wife: Rita Lillian Kavli (nee. Rose); his parents: Hans Kristian Kavli and Effie P. Kavli (nee. Layte); and his late sister: Gertrude Gobbell (nee. Kavli).

There will be a visitation taking place for family and friends at Country Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, October 22nd, 2026 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, from where the funeral service will take place on Friday, October 23rd, 2026 at 2 PM in the Country Haven Chapel with Major Brian Wheeler officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, a donation can be made in Hans’ memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.

The family wishes to extend a heart felt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the WLTC-Palliative Care Unit for their kindness and compassion shown to Hans during his time of need.

For those who are unable to attend, the funeral service for the late Hans Kavli will be livestreamed via Country Haven Funeral Home's Facebook page. The livestream will be available 10 minutes prior to the service.
