Guy Raymond
Roland Reid
October 11, 1963 – January 2, 2026
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Guy Raymond Roland Reid announce his sudden passing on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Health Science Center, St. John's, NL at the age of only 62 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his devoted wife of 44 years: Joanne; his beloved children whom he cherished very much: Nicole, Stephanie (Gerard), Gregory, and Justin (Melissa); grandsons: Jake, and Lucas; his beloved mother: Selma Ruby Reid; father-in-law: Gordon Pottle; sisters: Glenda (Frank), Jackie (Mike), Lisa, Gaye (Chum), and Hilda (Albert); brothers: Rick (Patti), Winston (Betty), and Dean; sisters-in-law: Kim (Tim), Deneka (Frank), and Tracey (Dave); and sister-in-law: Tammy; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many, many friends.
Guy was predeceased by his father: Roland Reid; his sisters: Betty, and Patsy; brother: Roger Reid; and his mother-in-law: Ellen Pottle.
Guy was born in Roddickton, NL, on October 11, 1963. From a young age he learned the value of hard work and dedication. Nearly 47 years ago, he began working alongside his father learning the craft of jacking up houses. A trade that would become his life's work. Raised by two hardworking parents, Guy developed the strong work ethic and pride in doing things right that defined him throughout his life.
For many years, Guy was also an avid broomball player, a passion he greatly enjoyed. Through his career, he travelled all over the province, jacking up houses and building basements. He became well known for his perfectionism and skill, taking great pride in his craft. Along the way, he met many great people and built lasting friendships through his work.
Guy met Joanne, and the rest was truly history. Together they shared 44 wonderful years together, and raised four beautiful children; who were his whole purpose and reason behind everything he did. While Guy loved his work, nothing mattered more to him than his family. He was a proud and devoted grandfather; Lucas was the absolute center of his world and brought him immeasurable joy. Guy also shared a close and loving bond with his parents-in-law: Gord and Ellen Pottle, who loved him as if he were their own son.
In quieter moments, he could often be found unwinding in the backyard, listening to his favourite music and enjoying the simple comforts from home. Guy will be remembered for his quiet strength, and his unconditional love for his family. His absence will be deeply felt, but his legacy lives on in the lives he touched, and the family he cherished.
The family wishes to extend a very heart felt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of WMRH-5A, the paramedics, Dr. Janet Ngu, the CVICU staff; especially nurse Amanda, who helped our family through the hardest moment.
There will be a visitation taking place for family and friends on Friday, January 9th, 2026 at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 7:00 - 9:00 PM. The funeral service will be taking place at 2 PM on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the First Pentecostal Church, 58 Premier Drive, Corner Brook with Pastor Megan Eddy officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Guy's memory to a charity of one's choice.
Guy will be deeply missed, and forever loved.
