Greg Hardy
Gillard
January 29, 1952 – July 30, 2025
It is with great sadness that the late Gregory "Greg" Hardy Gillard announce his passing at the Western Long-Term Palliative Care Unit on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at the age of 73 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his devoted wife of almost 50 years: Frances Gillard (nee. McCarthy); daughter: Angie Cooper (Derrick); sons: Doug Gillard (Karen), and Cory Gillard (Marie); grandchildren: Charlee Rose, Chloe, Rebecca, and Aaron Sheppard; brother: Wilfred Gillard (Josie); sisters: Carmel Waldron (Larry), Joy Ellsworth (Guy), and Dorothy Wells; sisters-in-law: Maureen Gillard, Alti Newman, Rose Musseau (Rick); and brother-in-law: Gerry McCarthy; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Greg was predeceased by his baby girl: Anne Marie; parents: Benedict and Blanche Gillard; brothers: Ben Gillard, and Fred Newman; parents-in-law: Arthur and Mildred McCarthy; and brother-in-law: Phillip Wells.
Greg was a skilled carpenter whose hands brought life to countless pieces that will stand the test of time. When he wasn't building, you could find him by the water, lost in the quiet joy of fishing. Whether casting a line at dawn or sharing tales of "the one that got away," fishing was more than a hobby—it was his peace. He loved nature, patience, and the simple beauty of the outdoors.
There will be a visitation taking place on Friday, August 1, 2025 at Country Have Funeral Home from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. There will be no formal funeral service at this time. Interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Greg's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
The family would like to extend a heart felt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of St. Clare's Mercy Hospital-4E for their kindness and compassion shown to our beloved father during his time of need. Also, to the residents and staff at the Mountainvew House in Meadows, for the years of care and friendship shown to dad. He always appreciated it. Lastly, to the WLTC-Pallitive Care Unit for their support during dads final moments. It will always be remembered and appreciated.
